Sculpture 1 (Intermediate)
Prerequisite: Beginning Art 1
During this course you will be exploring many different types of sculpture mediums including: paper, wire, wood, clay, plastic, fabric, etc. You will learn the difference between functional and non-functional sculpture and create several pieces of artwork. Utilizing found (materials that can be recycled) objects will be an integral part of our curriculum. Students will be asked to bring in several materials from home in order to be successful.

Expectations for all Students:
Be prepared
Be ready to learn
Work the entire class period
Respect classroom teacher/ peers/ materials
Push yourself to excel
Keep studio space clean
Only uses technology for class use
Late Work/ Grade Recovery (Mastery):
Late Classwork or Visual Journals receive 80% of their earned grade. All late work only accepted up to one and half weeks past their due date.
Late Projects: Students have two class periods to turn in work (completed outside of class time) without receiving a penalty, after the two day grace period students will receive 80% of their earned grade. Ex. If student earned a B, they will get a C grade.
Grade Recovery/ Mastery: If student is not satisfied with their project grade they may re-do the assignment and turn in again. Both earned grades will be averaged to make the new project grade.
Honor Code: WCPSS Policy (link)
For Offense(s) –A zero will be placed in the grade book until the alternative assignment has been assessed. Final Grade on the assignment will be no greater than 60%.
For repeated offences the student will be referred to administration.
For final exams honor code violations may result in a mis-administration.

Claes Oldenburg Art tools Choose an art tool and make it at least 4 times larger in the style like Oldenburg. Students must use recyclable materials or bring in their own materials and are limited to using tempera paint on sculpture.

The bust is created solid and then carved out for proper drying. Students are limited to one 25 lb. block of clay and the sculpture must be as close to life like in proportions and texture. Mid Term Review
Mid Term will consist of writing two formal analysis of artwork using the critical analysis format. Answers must be typed and emailed to teacher on exam day.
Final Review
Students should be taking quality photographs of all of their artwork throughout the semester.
Students will present a digital portfolio of all of their work for the semester on exam day. Digital portfolio must be shared with teacher on google drive or emailed prior to exam day.
